French it up…

I deceided to check out one of my local thrift stores and there I found my new friend.
He was not much to look at, but I saw potential…
I tried to fix the old drillholes…
…and then I picked up a can of black spray paint 😉
…and after my “special treatment”…
…you have to pardon the christmas madness, but the pictures were taken at christmas time!
..I deceided to use some black electrical tape to “french” it up, very simple but I do love the results…
..so you likes?
…even up close you cant really see that this is just tape…
…J´taime!

Fly, fly away…

…right from the pages of my book and onwards 🙂
The other day I was going though the junk mail that comes in the mail and after a little while (and some scissors)  this little guy was infront of me….
…I remembered this old book that I got at Goodwill…
..so I deceided to get started…
…I then took a basic floral-wire and some wire cutters, and thredded the butterflies onto the wire…
…I then took one end of the wire and placed it behind the mirror…
…and after placing the wire where I wanted it…

…I had beautiful butterflies all over the mantel…
…very simple and a easy way to decorate…

…and I do love butterflies…
..I think that some note sheets would also make beautiful butterflies…

…anyone liking this??
…someone prepared with scissors?
Have fun!

Tray chic..

I have to admit that I do have a thing for trays.  Dont know why but its my thing 🙂
I bought a white wooden tray the other day and it is such a lovely way to display the all sorts of goodness…
Here you can find a book, my Iittala Alvar Aalto vase, some candleholders and the globes that I got at Crate and Barrel…

I am a lucky woman…

Love between brother and sister – awwwwwww……

My little lady..

When my little girl (who is now 6 years old ) was born we had a nursery ready.  It was ever so pink and if I had to do it again today it would pretty different.  But at the time I was very happy with it – and looking back I still kinda love it because of the way it made me feel.  It was such a happy time bringing that little girl home so how could I feel anything but love……mooshy mooshy.
The bed is from a local store and the dresser is of course Ikea.
The teddiebear used to belong to me and is wearing a tutu, the lamp is classic Pooh..
Just look at those tiny little dresses…
I used a blanket from Ikea and made the lining into the baskets (also Ikea)
This birdie-mobile was one of her favorite toys, she could lay in her bed and watch it for ever…
That little fluffy dog is now a grayish color, he is her all time favorite and she still sleeps with him by her side…
There were basic Ikea track lights ob the ceiling and I made a butterfly-wire-“cage” and put around them.  It cast beautiful shadows all round…
Lovely little butterfly knobs, bought at Target…

Orchids…

I think that only orchids can rival tulips as my favorite flowers 🙂

The little man´s nursery..

so my littie man has a nursery in the making.  I deceided to keep the wall in the dark chocolate brown that really added some warmth to the room.  Also we had a dresser that we re-used.  So the main colors were brown, light lime green and light blue.
And like in so many other nurseries these days there are owls, there are owls and a lot of them.
So here is the 1st of many posts on the nursery:
The bed is from a brand called Small World, the bumper is Dwell and the quilt is Circo…
 The shelf is by Ikea
The alphabet is a small DIY project, as well as the Owl
Classic Pooh and his pals watch over the little baby boy
The blue canvases have wall decals on them, Circo from Target
….and then at last: the sweet little guy who lives in the room.

Wedding bouquet..

ahhhh, summer, romance and weddings – three things that I love

Pictures from my sweet friends wedding, I made the bouquet and all flowers, and was the photographer as well – I however did not perform the ceremony 😉

Dreaming of summertime..

This is the scenery from my office window during the summertime,
and I have to add that this photo is taken at night.
Icelandic summer nights are gorgeous and it does not get much better then this!
…so is there any wonder that I have started to daydream about sommertime.

The Christening

When our little man got his name we, being the most Italian Icelandic loud family I know, had a party.  As it was in the afternoon there were mostly cakes and other yummy things.  As for themes it was a quite traditional light-blue-baby-boy-kinda-party.  My mom made a Kransakaka, and from the google-ing I gather that this seems to be the Icelandic traditional wedding cake, even though my mom apperantly does not realise that as she uses every and any excuse to make one – lucky us!
To decorate it I simply took a light blue ribbon and looped it together into small bows – fastening then with a pearlpin.  A big bow on top and some seasonal Easter M&M´s and la voila 🙂
I do love my cupcake stand that I bought at Crate and Barrel, it has served us well and does bring height and flair to the table, literally!
Then there was The Cake, the cake that held the name – I´m not sure if this is a tradition everywhere?
But here it is in all its glory, anybody hungry now?
